How Schools, Government Agencies & Nonprofits Buy from BuyDirectNY: POs, NET-30, and Tax-Exempt Orders Explained
Buying electronics for a school district, government agency, or nonprofit is nothing like clicking “add to cart.” You have procurement rules, budget cycles, approval chains, and paperwork requirements that most online retailers simply aren't set up to handle. We are — and this guide explains exactly how it works.
What we support
BuyDirectNY (and our federal division, GovB2BSupply) supports institutional buyers with:
- Purchase orders. We accept POs from schools, universities, government agencies, and qualified businesses.
- NET-30 terms. Payment terms are available through Resolve, so you can receive equipment now and pay on your normal cycle.
- Tax-exempt processing. Submit your exemption certificate and we'll process orders without sales tax.
- W-9 on request. Need our W-9 to set us up as a vendor? Available immediately on request.
- Federal contractor credentials. We maintain a CAGE code and UEI for federal procurement, and carry TAA-compliant product lines where required.
- Volume and contract pricing. Institutional buyers get better-than-listed pricing on quantity orders — the bigger the order, the more room we have.
How the quote process works
- Send us your list. Use the Request a Quote option on any product page, or email us your requirements — even if it's just “we need to outfit 12 classrooms with projectors.”
- We spec and price it. We'll match products to your actual requirements and budget, flag TAA-compliance where it matters, and send a formal quote. Most quotes turn around within one business day.
- You send the PO. Once approved on your end, send the purchase order and your tax-exemption certificate.
- We ship and support. Freight shipments, liftgate delivery, staged rollouts across multiple sites — we've done it all.
What institutional buyers actually order
Recent institutional work includes an eleven-unit Epson PowerLite L530U laser projector rollout for a school, enterprise DJI thermal drone fleets for inspection programs, workstation GPU deployments for research labs, and PTZ camera systems for council chambers and lecture halls. Browse education-grade Epson projectors or our DJI enterprise drone lineup to get a sense of the catalog — and remember that if you don't see it listed, we can almost certainly source it.
Heroes & Educators: 7% off
Individual teachers, students, military members, veterans, first responders, healthcare workers, government employees, nonprofit staff, and church staff qualify for 7% off through our Heroes & Educators program — a small thank-you that applies even outside institutional purchasing.
Ready to start? Request a quote on any product page, or contact us with your requirements and your procurement paperwork — we'll handle the rest.
